Abstract:	Vsakdanje življenje nas pripelje do tega, da se skorajda več ne moremo izogniti, da ne bi bili udeleženci v cestnem prometu. Nekateri kot vozniki avtomobilov, drugi kot potniki v njih, tretji zgolj kot pešci. Najbolj ogroženi udeleženci v cestnem prometu so otroci, saj cesto uporabljajo precej drugače kot odrasli. Otroci so kot udeleženci nepredvidljivi, prometne predpise si razlagajo po svoje, poleg tega ne zmorejo pravilno oceniti hitrosti in oddaljenosti bližajočega se vozila. In ravno zaradi tega moramo za njihovo varnost poskrbeti mi, drugi udeleženci v cestnem prometu. Pojem prometne varnosti pa med drugim zajema tudi varovanje otrok na poteh v šolo in iz nje. V nalogi je na kratko predstavljena zgodovina Sveta za preventivo in vzgojo v cestnem prometu v Republiki Sloveniji, njeni cilji in naloge ter prometnovarnostne akcije, ki se izvajajo v Republiki Sloveniji. Predstavila bom tudi naloge in cilje prometne vzgoje, saj v osnovni šoli nima svojega učnega načrta, ter družino kot pomemben dejavnik pri vzgoji otrok in njihovem razvoju. Tudi policija je pomemben dejavnik pri prometni vzgoji. Predvsem bi izpostavila naloge policista – vodja policijskega okoliša, saj z raznimi preventivnimi nalogami skrbi za varnost otrok na osnovnih šolah. Njegovo delo se začne že pred začetkom šolskega leta, nadaljuje ga z različnimi preventivnimi dejavnostmi, skozi celotno šolsko leto. V diplomski nalogi sem prikazala tudi prometnovarnostni načrt, katerega mora izdelati vsaka šola, ter organiziran prevoz otrok iz oddaljenih krajev, ki je ravno tako pomemben za njihovo varno vrnitev iz šole domov. V nalogi je poudarek na prometni varnosti otrok, njihovi udeležbi v cestnem prometu ter vlogi Policijske postaje Vrhnika pri zagotavljanju prometne varnosti. Predstavila sem osnovne šole, ki spadajo pod določen policijski okoliš in kakšna je tamkajšnja prometna varnost. Podana je tudi raziskava prometnih nesreč na Vrhniki ter udeležba otrok v njih.

Abstract:

Being a part of road traffic is virtually unavoidable in everyday life - we play an active role on the road either as car drivers, passengers or merely as pedestrians. The most vulnerable group of road users are children whose utilization of roads differs significantly from the adults. As road users, children are unpredictable, their interpretation of road traffic rules is loose and they are, in addition, unable to correctly assess the speed and distance of an oncoming vehicle. This is why, as active participants in road traffic, we must take responsibility for their safety. And as part of that responsibility, assuring the children's safety on their way to school and back is inherent to the concept of road safety. This thesis briefly summarises the history of the Road Safety Council of the Republic of Slovenia, its goals and tasks, including the ongoing road safety actions in Slovenia. It focuses on the aims and goals of road safety education, a topic not covered in the curriculum in the Slovenian primary schools, and highlights the importance of family for the children's proper education and development. The work also touches on the important role the Police has in raising the children's awareness of road traffic safety. In particular, I would like to stress the role of the police officer - head of the police district who promotes children's safety through various preventive actions in primary schools. Their work begins before the start of a new school year and continues on with various preventive actions which are then being implemented throughout the school year. This thesis also describes the traffic security plan every school must prepare, including the organization of transport for children who live in remote locations, which is also key in assuring the children's safe trip to school and back. The thesis is focused mostly on the road safety of children, their role as road users and the role of the Vrhnika Police Station in assuring road safety. I listed the primary schools allocated to a specific police district, describing their individual road safety regimes. A research on traffic accidents in Vrhnika, and the involvement of children in these accidents is also presented.
