Abstract:V magistrskem delu govorimo o vplivu ekonomske svobode na kakovost življenja.

Title:ECONOMIC FREEDOM AND QUALITY OF LIFE: EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS OF EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
Abstract:In this master thesis we explore the impact of economic freedom on quality of life. In the past many empirical studies focused on relation-ship among economic freedom and income. Their results showed that high levels of economic freedom are correlated to higher levels of income and economic growth. Recently, the focus of empirical research shifted to analysing impacts of economic freedom on quality of life. Higher economic freedom is undoubtedly related to higher quality of life, which is not measured only by higher income but mainly by longer life expectation and higher levels of education and other aspect, like emotional states. We apply linear regression models based on ordinary least squares method on 35 European countries. We estimate impact of economic freedom on Human Development Index and Experienced Well Being. Empirical results support the hypothesis that higher economic freedom leads to improved quality of life. Results show the impact of three areas of economic freedom on quality of life. Legal System and Property Rights and Regulation have positive impact on the objective/subjective indicator of quality of life. On the other hand, impact of Size of Government on both measures is negative. We found out that Sound Money and Freedom to Trade Internationally have no impact on quality of life.
Keywords:Economic freedom, quality of life, well-being, life satisfaction, regression analysis, Human Development Index, Fraser Institute, Heritage Foundation.
