Abstract:V diplomskem delu smo predstavili gručene indekse. Opisali smo postopek načrtovanja podatkovne baze in našteli nekaj korakov v življenjskem ciklu podatkovne baze, kjer moramo pretehtati uporabnost gručenega indeksa. Opisali smo teoretične razlike med gručenim ter ne-gručenim indeksom in prikazali razlike v številu logičnih in fizičnih branj na izbranih poizvedbah. Prikazali smo učinek gručenega indeksa glede na tri različne razvrstitve podatkov in učinek reorganizacije podatkov v tabelah z in brez gručenega indeksa.

Title:CLUSTER INDEX IN DATABASES
Abstract:We have presented clustered indexes. We have described the process of planning the database and have shown some steps in databases life cycle, where we have to consider the usefulness of the clustered index. We have described theoretical differences between a clustered and non-clustered index and have shown the differences in numbers of logical and physical read on selected queries. We have shown the effect of a clustered index on three different distributions of data and the effect of reorganizing data in tables with and without a clustered index.
Keywords:clustered indexes, clustering, DB2, physical organisazion of data
