Po ugotovljenem optimalnem postopku sem nato obdelala polietilentereftalatno tkanino in uspešnost adsorpcije ugotavljala z metodami določanja celotnega organskega ogljika in z infrardečo spektroskopijo. Nazadnje sem ugotavljala uspešnost povečanja hidrofilnosti obdelane tkanine z določanjem vsebnosti vlage, s tenziometrijo in s fotogoniometrijo.

Title:ADSORPTION STUDY OF GALACTOGGLUCOMAMNAN ONTO POLY(ETHYLENE TEREPHTALATE)
Abstract:The interest to research biopolymers from renewable resources, has been rising in the last decade, because of lack of natural energy resources. Hemicelluloses are an interesting group of biopolymers, due to their structural diversity and various application possibilities on different fields. In the production of thermomechanical pulp in paper industry, galactoglucomannas are dominant hemicelluloses, which are released in the process waters. Dissolved mannans can be removed from aqueus phase by adsorption onto pulp fibres, which increases the strenght of produced paper. My work hypothesis was that galactoglucomannan can also bind on other fibers and change their properties. The main purpose of this work was to absorbe galactoglucomannan from aqueus solutions on polyethylene terephtalate fibers and increase hydrophilicity of fibers. Firstly I tested adsorption possibilities on polyethilene terephtalate film models using quartz crystal microbalance. After determination of most optimal process, I used that process on polyethylene terephtalate fibers and evaluated the adsorption using total organic carbon and infrared spectroscopy methods. Finally, I tested the increase of hydrophilicity of treated fabric by determining moisture content and the use of tensiometry and photogoniometry.. The results showed that the procedure used to adsorb galactoglucomannan on polyethylene terephtalate fabric was successful. Through the determination of contact angles with water, I also demonstrated an increase of hydrophilicity of polyethilene terephtalate fabric treated with galactoglucomannan.
