Abstract:Rjave morske alge, dodane v krmo živali, predstavljajo pomemben vir mineralov in elementov v sledovih, prispevajo k izboljšanju imunskih lastnosti pri govedu in k zmanjšanju morbidnosti in mortalitete, pripisujejo jim antimikrobni učinek, v raziskavah pa so ugotovili ugoden vpliv na izboljšanje klavnih lastnosti živali. Spremljali smo maso živali, zdravstveno stanje in konzumacijo krme ter izračunali dnevni prirast živali. Razlike dobljenih podatkov smo analizirali z neodvisnim T-testom (SPSS 20). Živali v poskusu se niso značilno razlikovale v doseženi končni masi (kontrolna skupina 195,7 kg in testna skupina 194,7 kg). V dnevnem prirastu smo ugotovili značilno razliko v obdobju 0-1 (kontrolna skupina 1,113 kg/dan in testna skupina 0,767 kg/dan), ter v obdobju 3-4 (kontrolna skupina 1,223 kg/dan in testna skupina 1,480 kg/dan).

Title:Monitoring the impact of the additive of brown seaweed (Ascophyllum nodosum) on the growth and health of the calves after housing
Abstract:Brown algae added to animal feed represent an important source of minerals and trace elements, they contribute to the improvement of immune traits in cattle and reduction of morbidity and mortality, whereby antimicrobial effects and positive impact on carcass traits in studies are attributed. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of addition of sodium alginate brown algae in the diet of the calf, following housing in daily gain and calf health. The study included 34 Simmental calves. They were divided into two groups, the control group, receiving the standard meal, and the test group which received the standard meal supplement brown algae. Testing was conducted for 8 weeks. The animals were weighed on the same day of the week. We checked live weight, health status and feed consumption of animals and calculated the average daily gain of the animals. Statistic analyses of data were done by SPSS 20 package with independent T-test. The achieved live weight did not differ significantly between test groups (control group 195.7 kg and test group 194.7 kg). The daily yield was significantly different in the period 0-1 (control group 1.113 kg/day and test group 0.767 kg/day) and in the period 3-4 (control group 1.223 kg/day and test group 1.480 kg/day). In determining the health status of the animals after the first week no differences were found. The feed intake was not found significantly different between the groups treated. Based on our results we cannot confirm the impact of adding algae in feed meal on the daily gain and health status of calves after housing.
