Abstract:Diplomsko delo z naslovom Mačja podoba je rezultat mojega občudovanja teh čudovitih živali in navdušenja nad slikarstvom.

Title:IMAGE OF A CAT
Abstract:Graduation thesis titled Image of a Cat is a result of my admiration for these wonderful creatures and my enthusiasm for painting. Graduation thesis consists of two parts – first is the theoretical part and the second is the practical part which is also related to the theoretical part. The history of human attitude towards cats is very diverse: at first the cat was worshipped as a sacred animal, later it was persecuted as devil and only in the 19th century did the artists manage to return cats to their former glory. In the theoretical part I am studying the image of a cat within the different periods of art history based mostly on sociological, historical and cultural context related to the cat. Also, I am giving a brief description of artists who used the image of a cat in their creative process. In the practical part of my graduation thesis I will be presenting my own work and creative experience that I acquired through the process of imagining and painting cats. I will also be covering problems of mixed media, selection of format and painting based on a photograph, which is directly related to my creative process. I conclude my graduation thesis with findings, some of which support my hypothesis and some that contradict them. In 2013 I had a collection of my works, titled Cat, exhibited at Galerija K18 on Koroška cesta 18 in Maribor.
