Abstract:	Teoretičen del diplomske naloge smo namenili predstavitvi policije kot organizacije, opisali smo način njenega delovanja in funkcijo, ki jo opravlja v naši družbi. Opisali in primerjali smo preventivno dejavnost med slovenskimi policijskimi upravami. Kot temeljni preventivni način dela smo opisali policijsko delo v skupnosti, ga primerjali s tradicionalnim načinom dela ter predstavili aktivnosti policijske uprave Maribor na tem področju. Ker predstavlja velik del dobrega delovanje policije tudi nadzor, visoka etika ter integriteta pri delu, smo v teoretičnem delu predstavili policijsko etiko in integriteto, opisali potek in vrste nadzora policije ter opisali pritožbeni postopek zoper dela policije. V empiričnem delu naloge smo opravili analizo zadovoljstva z delom policije v občini Maribor. Analizo smo opravili s 110 anketnimi vprašalniki, katere smo razdelili med naključno izbrane občane Maribora. Vprašalnik sestavljen iz štirih področji, in sicer: kakovost stikov policistov z ljudmi, percepcija kriminalitete in nereda, strah pred viktimizacijo ter skupnostna povezanost v občini. Po opravljeni analizi smo v nadaljevanju naloge navedli rezultate in ugotovitve analize ter preverili postavljene hipoteze. Občani menijo, da je kakovost stikov s policijo dokaj dobra. Precej slabše pa dojemajo področje kriminalitete in nereda v občini ter jo ocenjujejo kot dokaj slabo. Glede na dokaj slabo percepcijo kriminalitete bi pričakovali tudi prisotnost strahu pred viktimizacijo, vendar po analizi pridobljenih mnenj lahko trdimo, da občane ni strah da bi postali žrtve nepridipravov in področje ocenjujejo kot dobro. Prav tako dobra je tudi skupnostna povezanost. Občani se zanašajo na sosede, z njimi sodelujejo in rešujejo skupne probleme.

Abstract:

The theoretical part of the thesis contains a presentation of the police as an organization, its operation and functions it performs in the society. Furthermore, it contains a description and comparison of preventive activities of Slovenian police administrations. In addition, we described police work in the community, which is a fundamental preventive police activity, and compared it to the traditional methods. Since a large part of the efficient functioning of a police organization is based on good surveillance, high ethical standards and integrity at work, we included a presentation of the theoretical part of police ethics and integrity, and a description of the appeal process against the police. The empirical part of the thesis contains a survey on satisfaction with police work in the Municipality of Maribor. The survey was conducted with 110 survey questionnaires, which were distributed among randomly selected residents of Maribor. The questionnaire consists of four areas, namely: quality of police contacts with citizens, perception of crime and disorder, fear of victimization and community cohesion. Based on analysing the answers we then present the results and findings of the analysis and verify the hypotheses. Citizens believe that the quality of contacts with the police is quite good. However, they had a much lower opinion of the field of crime and disorder in the community, which is considered to be fairly bad. Given the relatively strong unhappiness regarding crime levels, one would expect more fear of victimization, but according to the survey findings, citizens do not seem to be afraid of becoming victims of crooks and assessed this area as positive. Community cohesion is also considered to be good. Citizens rely on neighbours and work together to solve common problems.
