Abstract:Redno zajtrkovanje je del zdrave prehrane in pomemben dejavnik zdravega življenjskega sloga. Pridobljene podatke smo analizirali, jih grafično in statistično obdelali s pomočjo računalniškega programa Microsoft Office Excel 2010.

Title:BREAKFAST HABITS OF ADOLESCENTS
Abstract:Having regular meals is a part of healthy diet and also a very important factor of a healthy life-style. The researchers have found several positive effects of eating breakfast four to five times per week on general well-being and condition, since it provides the body with the essential nutrients needed for the proper growth and development. Aim of this paper is to found out what habits do adolescents have when it comes to having breakfast. We are interested in how important it really is to eat breakfast every day, in how many adolescents actually eat breakfast every day and in whether the breakfast eating habits vary between different schools and also where can adolescents find sufficient information about healthy diet. We conducted a survey among the adolescents and grafically and statistically analysed the data gathered from the survey with a help of a computer program (Microsoft Office Excel 2010). According to our research results less than fifty per cent of adolescents eat breakfast during week days, therefore breakfast habits of adolescents are not how they should be in a healthy diet, which can lead to obesity and constant intake of unhealthy food. Better results in breakfast-eating were shown only over the weekends. Also, girls tend to eat breakfast more regularly than boys even though they all seem quite familiarized with the importance of an early meal. Conclusion: Leaving out breakfast as the most important meal of the day and inconstant eating habits has now become a problem for the whole society. We should be aware that adolescence is the most critical period in a process of growing up and so we should pay more attention in educating adolescents about healthy life-style and about the importance of eating breakfast regularly.
