V tej magistrski nalogi bomo pokrili omenjene tematske sklope.

Title:ACHIEVING SUSTAINABLE COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE AND PROTECTING IT THROUGH THE HELP OF ISOLATING MECHANISMS ON A CASE OF SLOVENIAN GAZELLES
Abstract:Achieving and sustaining competitive advantage is the most common goal of firms. The main theme of the master’s thesis is how to achieve, protect and sustain competitive advantage. The main question we would like to find an answer is: “Have Slovenian gazelles already achieved (or do they intend to do so) sustainable competitive advantage and are they protecting it through the help of isolating mechanisms?” There are various ways for a firm to achieve competitive advantages, because there are many resources allowing this. However, if a company wants to achieve sustainable competitive advantage, its resources have to meet some special criteria and there are just a few, which meets this criteria. Owning a rare resource does not mean that a company has a competitive advantage, because they have to protect it through isolating mechanisms, which prevents imitating from competitors. In the master’s thesis we will cover all the themes mentioned above. First we are going to describe the resource-based view theory, then we proceed to sustainable competitive advantage and lastly isolating mechanisms, with which it is possible to protect the competitive advantage of a company. We picked the Slovenian fast growing companies (gazelles 2013) for our research, because they are highly successful and have the potential for further development and growth in the future. The themes mentioned above will be covered in the theoretical background and empirical section. Achieving and sustaining competitive advantage is in today’s fast changing and dynamic environment difficult, so we consider this topic as relevant and its importance will grow even more in the future.
