Abstract:Višje cene energentov nas vse bolj silijo k varčevanju in k učinkoviti rabi energije.

Title:The Analysis of the Attractiveness of Investment in Solar Heating systems
Abstract:Higher energy prices are increasingly forcing us to use energy more efficiently and carefully. A limited availability of fossil fuels and the desire for bigger energy independence lead us to towards the usage of renewable energy sources. Slovenia has a lot of unused potential in the field of renewable energy sources. As regards renewable energy sources, Slovenia still has a lot of unused potential. It is often described as a country on the sunny side of the Alps, which means that there is plenty of sunshine for heating purposes. Sun is a sustainable energy source and with proper planning it can become a cost-effective heating source as well. The main aim of the master’s thesis was to analyze the possibility of using solar energy as an alternative source of heating. The thesis comprises two parts, i.e. the theoretical and the empirical part. In the theoretical part, we first reviewed Slovenian and foreign literature to define energy and energy needs. This was followed by the definition of renewable energy sources (RES), the overview of different types of RES and their economic and technical potential in Slovenia. We then examined all the incentives for the use of RES which are available in Slovenia. In the empirical part, we analyzed the offer of solar collectors and accompanying equipment available on the Slovenian market. We also analyzed the prices of collectors imported from China. We used the data provided by the Slovenian Environmental Public Fund (Eco Fund) to analyze the distribution of investments in renewable sources. By using the same methodology, we also analyzed the distribution of investments in solar thermal systems. After reviewing best practices of self-installation of solar collectors in Slovenia and abroad and by taking into consideration the prices of these solutions on the market, we assessed the meaningfulness of self-installation of solar collectors.
