Keywords:Mirovna operacija, zdravje pripadnikov Slovenske vojske, življenjski pogoji, vpliv na zdravje.

Title:THE PEACEKEEPING OPERATION AND HEALTH OF MEMBERS OF THE SLOVENIAN ARMED FORCES IN AFGHANISTAN
Abstract:The Slovenian military personnel takes part in peacekeeping operations worldwide. Taking part in a peacekeeping operation means to most of the Slovenian military personnel a contribution to the international peace and stability. When having in mind a definition of a peacekeeping operation in a sociological sense we can say that it is a work with people and a work among people, with other participants in the mission as well as with the local people. Being deployed in a peacekeeping operation means working in special circumstances when hostilities can be expected and also other kinds of potential danger are possible as the consequence of the past war, e.g. mines, unexploded lethal means, etc. Dangers can result from the culture of the local people (traffic culture), the consequences of one's own handling (wounds, diseases, panic, equipment, arms). Stress and any such factors exert influence upon the health of the military personnel, and there are other factors (climate, hygiene, nutrition, exercises) having influence on their health, as well. I think the personnel's health is not enough provided for during the peacekeeping operations and certain issues as well as living conditions could for certain be improved to some extend.
Keywords:peacekeeping operation, health of Slovenian military personnel, living conditions, influence on health.
