Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava stanovanjsko problematiko mladih v Sloveniji.

Title:SELF-SUFFICIENT HOUSING UNITS FOR YOUNG: SPATIAL AND ARCHITECTURAL ASPECTS
Abstract:This master`s degree thesis is about residential problems of nowadays young population in Slovenia. For that reason the demography data, as well as the data about the state of the current housing market and the quality of young population`s accommodation has been provided as a theoretical introductory chapter. We also have analyzed the Slovenian legislation regarding housing as well as residential buildings. In the next chapter we have designed the model of self-sufficient living units a bases, we have analyzed the realised cases of positive experience, developed further in terms of our the architectural technology and design scheme of a self-sufficient model. We have also analyzed the basic spatial requirements of future residents by providing the necessary surface area suitable for one or two persons. Taking into account the functionality and appropriate living conditions, we have designed basic architectural principles of small living unite. As a result, the four different self-sufficient housing units with flexible spatial and functional characteristics have been designed, taking into account the lifestyles of young population, as well as the principle of minimized environmental impact and independency of the location`s equipment. The elements of self-sufficiency have been integrated into a design of the form, which is compact and easy to construct, in order to create a self-sufficient architectural model for different locations. For the purpose of testing we designed the modular and four types of residential units, based on the model, which were integrated on the deteriorated location in Maribor, thus creating a neighbourhood that would be able to stimulate the urban and social redevelopment of the degraded housing area.
Keywords:living unit, self-sufficiency, accommodation for young population
