Abstract:Pogosto se pojavlja vprašanje o potrebnosti teorije glasbe oziroma Nauka o glasbi v glasbenih šolah. Rešitev za večjo priljubljenost in boljšo uporabnost predmeta je v spremembi učnega načrta v prvih treh razredih predmeta NOG in v večji povezanosti teorije s prakso.

Title:NEED AND POPULARITY OF MUSIC THEORY IN MUSIC
Abstract:There often comes to the question about the necessity of music theory or the subject Music Theory in music schools. But the necessity of the subject can already be seen in the historical overview of music education in Slovenia where Music Theory was part of the curriculum in music schools from the very beginning. Without the knowledge of theory there is no musical literacy. This has also been confirmed by the research in which the teachers of instrumental music realize they cannot teach music theory during their lessons. Even the students themselves are aware that the knowledge of music theory is general education and helps them when they play the instrument. The research has also turned down the famous stereotype about the unpopularity of the subject, for it has shown that the majority of students like visiting the Music Theory, although they miss more integrating of theory and practice and the use of modern means of education during lessons. The fact that some things need to be studied and practiced is less popular, but the students admit they do it only before oral examination. In the research it can be seen that there is a discrepancy of the syllabuses as the Music Theory is behind the instrumental lessons in subject matter. The solution for better popularity and the usefulness of the subject is in the change of the syllabus in the first three classes of Music Theory and in a better integration of theory and practice.
