Title:Effect of different tillage techniques, temperature and precipitation on CO2 emissions from light soil
Abstract:In 2012 a field experiment was carried out in Podova, the Rače-Fram district, in the village of Gorica. In this experiment we compared the occurrence of CO2 emissions from the light soil when three soil techniques were applied: ploughing with mouldboard plough and soil preparation with cultivator, chisel plough and direct sowing. The intention of the field trial was to find out, which type of soil treatment causes greater CO2 emissions and whether these emissions depend also on the soil temperature and precipitation. We found out that the most suitable soil treatment is direct sowing with the average yearly amount of 2.70 μmol/m2 CO2 emissions. This treatment, compared to the other two, not only saves time and energy but also decreases CO2 emissions, regardless of temperature and precipitation. This technique is followed by the preserving soil treatment with chisel plough with the average yearly amount of 4.53 μmol/m2 CO2 emissions, which improves all soil characteristics. The average yearly emissions have risen in ploughing in which the average yearly amount of 4.71 μmol/m2 s CO2 emissions was measured.
