Abstract:
V diplomski nalogi smo predstavili pomen logistične podpore na pacifiškem bojišču v času druge svetovne vojne. Analizo smo omejili zlasti na glavna udeleženca spopada – ameriško in japonsko vojsko. Dolge razdalje med Ameriko in Japonsko ter pacifiškim bojiščem so predstavljale velik izziv na področju oskrbovanja enot s hrano in vojnim materialom, ki so jih potrebovali za nemoteno bojevanje. Osredotočili smo se na organiziranost logistične podpore japonske vojske in preporod ameriške logistike oziroma njen pomen v času bojev v 2. svetovni vojni s poudarkom na pacifiškem bojišču. Pri tem smo analizirali težave ob zagotavljanju logistične podpore na Pacifiku na obeh vpletenih straneh, predstavili pomen gospodarstva v vojni in podali predlog »identificiranih in naučenih lekcij«, ki so lahko uporabne tudi v sodobnih vojaških operacijah.

The role of the logistics support at Pacific battlefield in World War two
Abstract:
This thesis deals with the importance of logistic support on the Pacific battlefield during World War II. The analysis is focused notably on the principal participants in the combat, i.e. the USA and Japanese armed forces. Long distances betweenthe USA and Japan and the Pacific battlefield represented a major challenge in terms of supplying military units with food and military material, required for uninterrupted performance ofmilitary operations. The emphasis of the analysis is given to the organization of logistic support by the Japanese armed forcesand to the revival of the American logistics as well as tothe role of logistic support in the World War II combats, particularly on the Pacific battlefield. Furthermore, there is an analysis of difficulties of providing logistic supportin the Pacific area on both sides andof the economy’s role in wartime. To conclude, there is aproposition of »identified and learnt lessons«which could be useful also in contemporary military operations.
