Title:The effect of different soil tillage on CO2 emissions from the heavy soil in 2011
Abstract:In 2011 the field test was done on the parcel »Center« near Zgornja Kungota. Using measuring system LCpro+ we established the CO2 release from heavy soil sown with maize under different soil treatments (conventional soil treatment, conservational soil treatment and direct sowing). The purpose of the research was to establish which soil treatments cause the greatest CO2 release from soil and how the CO2 release from the soil depends on monthly rainfall and average monthly temperatures. Based on the acquired results it can be concluded that the most CO2 was released at conventional soil treatment, less at conservation soil treatment and the least at direct sowing. Namely, the average annual CO2 release from the soil was 6.31 µmol/m2 s at ploughing, 5.36 µmol/m2 s at conservational soil tillage and 4.06 µmol/m2 s at direct sowing. From the point of the CO2 release from soil, we can conclude that direct sowing is the most appropriate way of heavy soil tillage regardless of the measured rainfall and average temperatures. In addition, it saves time and reduces energy consumption.
