Abstract:V zadnjem desetletju je v socialni psihologiji opazen izjemen porast raziskav o moči, zlasti o njenih številnih psiholoških učinkih.

Title:PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF POWER
Abstract:Social psychology has seen an exceptional increase in research about power in the last decade, especially about its numerous psychological effects. This master's thesis puts the influence of power on unethical behavior in forefront. The previous findings show that the influence is complex and contains several moderators. We tried to integrate these findings with recent research that shows the influence time of day has on the occurrence of unethical behavior (Kouchaki and Smith, 2014), i.e. the morning morality effect. The purpose of this thesis was to examine the influence of power and the influence of the time of day on unethical behavior. An experiment was conducted (N = 69), where the power was manipulated by different body postures, and after that the unethical behavior was examined with computer-based arithmetic task, which provided opportunity to cheat. This experiment was conducted in two periods: in the morning and in the evening. The results have shown that the time of day did not have an effect on unethical behavior because there were no significant statistical differences in cheating between the morning and the evening group. This indicates that the morning morality effect is not universal. The results of the research also show that manipulation of power with different body postures did not influence unethical behavior, also irrespective of time of day. Since there is a possibility that due to methodological shortcomings the manipulation of power did not create a feeling of power among the participants, it is not possible to derive firm conclusions from the results. The conclusion contains suggestions for improving and expanding further research.
