Abstract:V magistrskem delu je predstavljeno delovno okolje, opisane so najpogostejše kronične nenalezljive bolezni kot posledica nezdravega življenjskega sloga, pomen in pristopi promocije zdravja v delovnem okolju ter priporočila in smernice za izboljšanje zdravja delavcev.

Title:HEALTH RISK FACTORS FOR WORKERS IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY AND EFFECTS OF HEALTHY LIFESTYLE PROMOTION ACTIVITIES
Abstract:This Master Thesis presents a working environment and describes the most common chronic non-infectous diseases connected to unhealthy lifestyle. Furthermore the Thesis describes the importance of and approaches to healthy lifestyle promotion inside the working environment as well as guidelines and recommendations for the health improvement of the workers. The Thesis sets forth a research based on 32 workers with its main two goals being the assessment of the actions taken in search to improve healthy lifestyle patterns and identifying the connection between health risk factors and socioeconomic status. The influence of gender was also assessed. Research methodology: The quantitative methodology was used for the Thesis. The first part of the research was based upon a questionnaire holding 46 questions titled »Health and behaviour style« aiming at evaluating the current lifestyle condition of the workers. For the purpose of evaluation and analysis of the latter some other indicators have been obtained, namely anthropometrical measurements, blood pressure measeurements, physical fitness tests (a walk test) together with certain amount of bloodtests. The second part of the research was based on implementation of certain actions applied only for an intervention group of workers after which the same procedure of the first part of the research was applied. Based on the differences between results obtained in the first as oppose to those in the second part of the research, a statistical analysis was made using the SPSS 20.0 tool. Results: Based on the research it has been established that the workers that have been subjected to healthy lifestyle promotion presented statistically noticable improvements regarding processed fruit consumption and better results at the walk test. Furthermore it has been established that workers with higher degrees of education reached better results on the initial walk test. After the implementation of healthy lifestyle promotion actions the difference in education was not statistically noticed. As far as gender is concerned, females presented better walk test results as well as lower blood pressure levels. Conclusion: The research of this Thesis established that the promotion of a healthy lifestyle can in the short term reach an improvement in workers health status but unfortunately without the overall improvement in terms of financial stabiliy on the state level, the lifestyle of its inhabitants can hardly be changed.
