Title:Harvesting damaged and infested wood in the Majšperk area
Abstract:Interference in nature is a process, which carries, requires great responsibility, because it affects the narrower and wider surrounding area. When working in the forest it is required that one follows the rules prescribed by the Slovenian Forest Service. The entire process of forest restoration using temporary and permanent storage impacts the quality of the wood. In the beginning of our thesis I outlined the process of sanitary logging as required by the Decision of sanitary logging issued by the Slovenian Forest service. Firstly I presented the necessary workforce and equipment for working in the forest and outlined the costs at the time. We presented and assessed the state of the temporary wood storage, lading and transport costs. The area of central storage was used to show how the wood was deposited for use as an energy source. Using critical analysis to assess these processes I discovered the problem of incorrect storage of wood before and after processing for energy use and recommended possible improvements in the process. The goal of this thesis is discovering and choosing the correct solutions for temporary, central and final storage of firewood. Using these solutions means that firewood will maintain its useful value.
Keywords:Sanitary logging, temporary firewood storage, central wood storage, wood chip storage, critical analysis.
