Abstract:V sklopu magistrskega dela Raziskave afinitete zeolitov za pare različnih topil smo preučevali adsorpcijo različnih organskih topil na različne tipe zeolitov. Naredili smo primerjavo adsorpcije 96 % etanola in 100 % etanola.

Title:RESEARCH OF ZEOLITE AFFINITY FOR VAPOURS OF DIFFERENT SOLVENTS
Abstract:In the Master’s thesis with the title Research of zeolite affinity for vapours of different solvents we studied the adsorption of various organic solvents on different types of zeolites. The zeolites were put on a Petri dish and in a desiccator. We pored the chosen solvent on the bottom and exposed the zeolites to vapours of the solvent. The amount of the adsorbed solvent was determined gravimetrically. We determined the maximum amount of adsorbed solvent for each zeolite and each solvent. The time course of the adsorption process is presented in a graphical form. We tested the adsorption of acetone, toluene and ethanol in a variety of 13X, 4A and ZSM-5 type of zeolites. A comparison was made for adsorption of 96 % ethanol and 100 % ethanol. The results show that the hydrophobic ZSM-5 type zeolites adsorbed the 100 % ethanol better, and that the hydrophilic 13X and 4A type zeolites adsorbed the 96 % ethanol better. There were also differences within each type of zeolites for which we gave a possible explanation. We also made a thermogravimetric analysis of individual samples with adsorbed acetone and found that the desorbed amount of acetone was not equal to the adsorbed amount of acetone for all samples. We can conclude that the hydrophilic zeolites additionally bounded moisture from air during the preparation of the samples for thermogravimetric analysis.
