Abstract:Pacienti običajno le stežka zatajijo svoje negativne občutke pred preiskavo, kot je endoskopska preiskava zgornjih prebavil.

Title:INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS ON REFERRAL FOR ENDOSCOPIC INTERVENTION
Abstract:Patients usually hardly hide their negative feelings before the intervention such as endoscopic investigation of the upper digestive tract. The vast majority of people in such procedures are afraid because they do not know what to expect. They do not know the course of investigation, possibly ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬due to in correct information given by people who already had this investigation. For members of health care team is important to be educated in communication and in knowledge how to provide information to the patient. Written consent of from the patient to medical intervention investigation (Patient’s rights act) plays nowadays an important role. Research methodology In this study, we used quantitative methodology for collecting data using a semi structured questionnaire. The research sample included 50 patients who were referred to endoscopic intervention of upper digestive tract (gastroscopy). The survey was conducted at General hospital Celje. Results The survey showed that majority of respondents were referred to investigation by personal physician, most of them had gastroscopy for the first time. Respondents were fully aware that they will be exclusively guided with breathing exercises. Patients got most of information on endoscopic intervention investigation from physician, additional information were given orally in a conversation by their doctor or nurse. Respondent’s opinion is that fear before intervention /investigation is real and that the nurse provide them with enough time. Conclusion In the case of information of patients that are on referral for endoscopic intervention, we found that they are well informed on process on endoscopic examination by getting it through including only guided breathing technique. They were pleased by kindness of nurses and their individual work. Nurse’s work is crucial in overcoming fear of intervention/investigation.
