Zbrana hišna imena imajo slovenski in nemški izvor.

Title:HOUSE NAMES IN ZGORNJA AND SPODNJA SORICA
Abstract:The present Master's thesis titled House Names in Zgornja and Spodnja Sorica researches house names in the Sorica village, where the Selca dialect- a subtype of the Upper Carniolan dialect group- is spoken. The house names were collected by means of a questionnaire based on a booklet Metode zbiranja ledinskih in hišnih imen(Methods of Obtaining Geographic and House Names). The obtained material is classified and arranged in a dictionary-like order. Each house name is first presented in the basic form, where its standardised form is followed by the official name of the landowner in the brackets. The scientific dialectological transcription of the house name stressed in the basic form follows the separating sign ‖. The next two forms answer the questions “Where did you come from?” and “Where did you go?” respectively. After that, the name of the house owner is given in the nominative and genitive cases and the derivational possessive adjective in masculine and feminine forms. After the basic transcript of each name, the semantic part with the etymology of the names follows. With names originating in personal names, the etymology of the given name is presented, based on Keber’s Lexicon of Names (Keber 2001). Names that derive from Slovene common nouns are accompanied by the definition of the word according to Dictionary of Standard Slovenian (SSKJ 1994). Names of a German origin are listed alongside their original forms found in Pleteršnik’s Slovene-German Dictionary (Pleteršnik 2006). In cases where the German word was adapted into the Slovene language, the origins were also researched in Dictionary of Etymology (Snoj 1997). House names remain a part of the oral tradition and thus pass from generation to generation. The collected house names have Slovene and German origins.
