Abstract:Namen magistrske naloge je bil raziskati pojav bolečine, natančneje migrenske in tenzijske glavobole, ki so zaradi visoke prevalence ena izmed najpogostejših težav splošne populacije. V raziskavo smo zajeli 258 udeležencev, razvrščenih v tri skupine in sicer osebe z migrenskim glavobolom, osebe z glavobolom tenzijskega tipa ter skupino oseb brez glavobolov. Vsi so rešili nabor naslednjih vprašalnikov: Lestvica zaznanega stresa, Strategije spoprijemanja s stresom COPE in Zuckerman-Kuhlmanov osebnostni vprašalnik.

Title:PSYCHOSOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF EPISODIC TENSION-TYPE HEADACHE AND MIGRAINE
Abstract:The aim of this master's thesis is to examine the occurrence of the pain, specifically the migraine and tension headaches, which are in proportion to the high prevalence one of the most frequent problems of general population. By doing the research we wanted to overcome the one-sided classical medical model and focus on the perception of the individual as a bio-psycho-social entity. With that we focused on the significance of psychological and social factors in the migraine and tense headaches occurrence and researched the important relations between the amount of stress, the strategies of coping with stress and the personal characteristics of the participants. There were three groups of 258 people participating in the research: people with the migraine headaches, people with the tension headaches and a group of people with no headaches who answered the following sets of questionnaires: The scale of perceived stress, The strategies of coping with stress COPE and Zuckerman-Kuhlman’s personal questionnaire. The results have shown that women in comparison with men suffer from the migraine and tension headaches more often and they report of a bigger amount of stress. Additionally the people with more frequent and more intensive headaches are more overloaded if we compare them with people who have less frequent and mild headaches and people without headaches who suffer the least stress. The comparison between people with the migraine and tension headaches and people with no headaches has shown some important differences in the strategies of coping with stress where people with headaches show more passivity in coping with problems and they focus on a passive relief of feelings, whereas people with no headaches show more constructive and active way of coping with conflicts. Regarding that the individual’s perception of a situation as stressful and his response to it is related to personality we were interested in personality traits of people with and without headaches. It was found out that people with the migraine and tension headaches show higher degree of neuroticism and anxiety whereas on the outside they are stifled in showing negative emotions (such as aggression and anger). The present research has applicative values in establishing the intervention programmes for people with the migraine and tension headache.
