Uporabljali so naravne materiale, npr. cvetlice, mivko, vodo, listje, les, volno, rogove, prejo, slamo; in umetne materiale, ostanke blaga, lončke, zidake, špule (lesene kolute), papir in karton. Iz teh materialov so izdelovali žoge, punčke iz cunj, frače, loke, pištole, avtomobile, tanke itd. Empirični del diplomskega dela zajema raziskavo o igri in igračah v prejšnjem stoletju.

Title:TWENTIETH CENTURY CHILDREN'S GAMES AND TOYS IN SLOVENIA
Abstract:The thesis titled Twentieth Century Childrenᶦs Games and Toys in Slovenia consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. For an easier understanding of games and toys in that era, we have addressed the history and life of people in the 20th century in the theoretical part. Various factors affected the life of Slovenians, such as World Wars 1 and 2, various governments and political systems, poverty, etc. All these factors influenced the people, especially children. Regardless of social conditions, children played, although that depended on their place of residence, since country children were more involved in household chores. With friends and peers they played duck, duck, goose, tag and football; games children still enjoy today. But games required toys, either store-bought ore home-made. The latter were predominant, since store-bought ones were considerably rarer and more expensive. In most cases toys were made from materials children could find in their surroundings. Natural materials were used, such as flowers, sand, water, leaves, wood, wool, horns, yarn and straw; plastic was used, as well as cloth scraps, cups, bricks, wooden spools, paper and cardboard. These materials were converted into balls, ragdolls, slingshots, bows, pistols, cars and tanks. The empirical part of the thesis consists of a research on games and toys in the last century. This was done via an interview of a 100 people, mostly from retirement homes in Laško, Celje and Maribor; the rest were chosen at random. We were mostly interested in the circumstances of the games (their place and participants), the types of games being played and the toys (bought or made) they had. The information was processed with the SPSS program (Statical Pacegeforthe Social Sciences) and presented in a table form. Based on the results we showed the differences and similarities in the field of games and toys in comparison to today.
