| Abstract: | The main goal of the research in this paper was to analyze the significance and structure of Slovenian family enterprises, and to investigate differences between family and non-family businesses with regard to company size, age, ownership structure, generation of owners, internationalization, and performance. Our study has confirmed that small and medium-sized family enterprises are a numerically important group of enterprises in Slovenia. Most family enterprises belong to first-generation owners who established the enterprise. Family enterprises are, on average, statistically significantly older than non-family ones. Other examined family/non-family differences were not statistically significant. |
