| Abstract: | Let ▫$mathbb{D}$▫ be an arbitrary division ring and ▫$M_n(mathbb{D})$▫ the multiplicative semigroup of all ▫$n times n$▫ matrices over ▫$mathbb{D}$▫. We study non-degenerate, injective homomorphisms from ▫$M_2(mathbb{D})$▫ to ▫$M_4(mathbb{D})$▫. In particular, we present a structural result for the case when ▫$mathbb{D}$▫ is the ring of quaternions. |
