Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: Zdravje je največja vrednota vsakega posameznika. Promocija duševnega zdravja in preventiva duševnih motenj sta prvi korak ohranjanja celotnega zdravja.

Title:MENTAL HEALTH PROMOTION AND PREVENTION OF MENTAL DISORDERS
Abstract:Theoretical references: Health is the most important value of every individual. Welfare covers not only physical but also mental health. The purpose of the thesis is to present the problem of mental disorders. According to the exposed problem, in our thesis we described the importance of mental health promotion and prevention of mental disorders and in Slovenia and in the rest of the world. In addition, we described the activities of a nurse in the field of prevention and promotion of mental health. Research methodology: In the thesis, we used descriptive method with which we detailed described the mental health, mental disorders and measures of prevention and promotion of mental health, as well as a comparative method in which we compared the attitudes towards mental disorders in the past and today, as well as in Slovenia and in the rest of the world. At the writing of this thesis, we used most frequently the Resolution on the National Programme of Mental Health, released by the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia in 2011. In this paper, we described in detail the situation in Slovenia in the field of mental health promotion and prevention of mental disorders. Results: In Slovenia implemented very few programs that promote good mental health. Programs are not designed for all age groups. Most attention is directed to the promotion of mental health of adolescents and child. There are not promotional programs in the field of mental health for older people. Conclusion: We have discovered that it is still less attention focused on mental health than on physical health. The main activities in the field of health care are the inclusion of employees in preventive activities and health promotion for every individual in all local communities. Promotion of mental health and prevention of mental disorders are the first step of maintaining the overall health.
