Želeli smo najti optimalne pogoje centrifugiranja s spreminjanjem časa centrifugiranja in števila obratov. Boljše rezultate smo pričakovali v primeru KPK in BPK5, saj smo s centrifugiranjem uspeli odstraniti le 20 % KPK in 30 % BPK5.

Title:Centrifugation of compost leachate
Abstract:The purpose of the thesis was to determine whether centrifugation will change the characteristics and quality of compost leachate, and thereby determine whether centrifugation as an independent form of wastewater treatment is reasonable. We wanted to find optimal conditions by varying the spin centrifugation time and number of revolutions. We performed the following physicochemical measurements: turbidity, conductivity, pH, spectral absorption coefficient-SAK, the content of suspended and dissolved particles, metal content, organic matter content, expressed as chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5). Based on the results of physicochemical parameters, we determined the reduction in content of suspended particulate matter, which is also associated with reduced turbidity. We achieved a 60% reduction of concentration of Zn2+ in water. We were surprised by the increase of the content of dissolved particles after treatment which was attributed to the action of microorganisms that cause the mineralization, which may lead to increase of dissolved solids content. Possible appropriation is also mechanical breakage of the molecules to colloidal particles and their dissolution. Better results were expected in the case of COD and BOD5, however, we only managed to remove 20% of COD and 30% of BOD5 with centrifugation. It could be concluded that centrifugation as a method may be effective in combination with other methods for wastewater treatment as pre-treatment or primary treatment, but it is not sensible method for independent use.
