Abstract:	Dvoriščni kompleks na Koroški cesti 5 se nahaja na območju zgodovinskega mestnega jedra v mestu Maribor. Je del stavbnega kareja med Koroško cesto, Splavarskim prehodom, Vojašniško ulico in Žičkim prehodom. Kompleks obdaja stavbni kare in je zaradi tega z ulične strani skoraj neviden, razen s strani Splavarskega prehoda, kjer se vzhodni trakt s fasado odpira proti ulici. Objekt je bil grajen z namembnostjo industrijskih in skladiščnih prostorov, kar potrjujejo tudi veliki in odprti prostori. Objekt je bil v preteklosti večkrat dograjevan. Ta prazen in opuščen prostor z veliko možnosti in kvalitet glavni predmet projektne naloge. V okviru prenove bo spremenjen v art center, ki obsega hostel, art trgovino, kavarno in turistični center. Art center ni namenjen samo umetnikom, temveč tudi lokalni skupnosti, ki bo lahko prav tako uporabljala njegove prostore v družbene in kulturne namene. Z manjšimi arhitekturnimi posegi bo objekt prilagojen potrebam art centra, sočasno pa bo prej brezobličen objekt pridobil karakter in novo vrednost, primerljivo z zgodovinsko arhitekturo, ki ga obdaja.

Title:	Revitalisation of courtyard complex on Koroška street 5 in Maribor
Abstract:	Courtyard complex on Koroška street 5 is located in the historical city center in the city of Maribor. It is a part of building block surrounded by 4 streets: Koroška street, Splavarski passage, Vojašniška street and Žički passage. Complex is located in the middle of the building block and that is why it is unvisible from the street except the facade on the east part of complex which is oriented to the Splavarski passage. Complex is built as industrial building and storage place. That is why it has big open spaces and it was spreaded several times. That empty and abandoned space with a lot of possibilities is the main subject of this project work. In process of revitalisation, the complex is converted into art center which contains hostel, art shop, coffee shop and tourist office. Art center is not only designed for artists, but also for local community which can use art center for social and cultural events. With smaller architectural interventions, the object is adjusted to the needs of art center and, in the same time, one big undefined space became place with real character and value as its surroundings.
