Abstract:Namen magistrske naloge je bil teoretično in empirično obravnavati fenomen nasilja nad ženskami in raziskati, kako se različne oblike nasilja povezujejo s socialno, ekonomsko in psihično kvaliteto življenja ter stopnjo samospoštovanja. Pridobljene podatke smo zbrali s pomočjo NorVold vprašalnika o zlorabah (NorVold Abuse Questionnaire-NorAQ), Lestvico kvalitete življenja (Subjective Quality of Life Scale) in Lestvico samospoštovanja (Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale-RSES).

Title:The correlation between violence and mental, social and economic quality of life
Abstract:The purpose of the master thesis was to theoretically and empirically address the phenomenon of violence against women and to explore how various forms of violence are associated with social, economic and psychological quality of life and the level of self-esteem. With the research on the sample of Slovenian women, we wanted to check the extent to which different types of violence were associated with, constructs of self-esteem and overall quality of life. Furthermore, we checked the correlation between employment status, the level of self-esteem and the level of quality of life. Regarding the employment status we wanted to see whether there were differences between employed and unemployed participants (victims of violence) in the level of experiencing violence. The study involved 120 women. Group 1, the institutional sample consisted of 51 participants who were users of institutions that offer help to victims of violence. Group 2, non-institutional sample was collected randomly. Acquired data was collected through a NorVold Abuse Questionnaire, Subjective Quality on Life Scale and Subjective Self-Esteem Scale. Participants responded via the Internet (n = 104) or in the form of paper-pencil (n = 16), from August 2015 to January 2016. Analysis of the results showed that the experience of violence (physical, sexual, psychological and economic) reflected in a statistically significant lower results on a scale of self-esteem and quality of life scale. Thesis contributes to the knowledge in this field, precisely because it deals with the connection between different types of violence on social, economic and psychological quality of life and self-esteem construct. Results highlight the importance of socio-economic perspective in relation to the experience of different types of violence and self-esteem and point to a different aspect of the topic of violence against women.
