Keywords:študentsko delo, trg dela, brezposelnost mladih, mini job.

Title:PROS AND CONS OF STUDENT WORK
Abstract:Student work, as it is known in Slovenia, does not exist in other European countries. It represents a highly popular employment form for young people during studies due to financial reasons and the opportunity to collect work experience needed for a better start in the labour market. For companies student work is cheaper and less tax burdened in comparison to regular employment. Taxes and other costs for regular employees are significantly higher than the 33,74 % burden for student work. Thus, students cause unfair competition on the labour market for young people who are not included in education process. The labour market demands for flexibility of employment forms in times of increased uncertainty from all job seekers. Unfortunately, this flexibility is burdened predominantly on young people who in effect suffer financial insecurity and social instability. High unemployment rate among young people is a key economic challenge among European countries which can be diminished by labour market reforms and active employment policy. Germany has established stricter conditions for the student work to point out that the students' primary mission is to study. Therefore, Germany enables occasional student work only under certain circumstances on the bases of so-called mini job regulation which is the same for students and for other employees.
Keywords:student work, labour market, unemployment of young people, mini job.
