V primerjavi s poslovnim protokolom so diplomatska pravila še nekoliko strožja in podrobnejša.

Title:BASIC PROTOCOL RULES
Abstract:Although often not aware of it, in a business and even more so in a diplomatic environment people are constantly being observed. Greetings, gestures and external appearance are of key importance for the impression we make to our interlocutor. At the same time the knowledge of certain etiquette allows us to be comfortable and self-confident in our contacts. Such etiquette is called the rules of protocol. With their knowledge we demonstrate seriousness and professionalism at our work. The purpose of this thesis is to present one of the main segments of the protocol rules, which are being used in the Republic of Slovenia. We have focused on the rules of proper wardrobe, better known as the “dress codes”, as our appearence can tell a great deal about ourselves and our attitude towards others. During mankind's history a very precise guidelines related to cloths, footwear and accessories have been developed within the protocol rules. In comparison to the business protocol the rules of the diplomatic service are even more rigorous and detailed. Respective rules do not apply only at receptions, formal talks and similar events with representatives of other states, but the mentioned guidelines come into effect in an everyday life of every diplomat. There is not only a limited circle of people, who attend state events, which should be familiar with these rules. They can be useful as some sort of a handbook to participants as well as organizers of various events.
