Ta nova usmerjenost v proizvodne in storitvene procese vnaša okoljske omejitve z upoštevanjem števila prebivalstva, njihovih življenjskih navad, nivoja proizvodnje, rabe energije ter surovin, potrošnje in odpadkov. Kakšne so njegove značilnosti? Katera demografska merila vplivajo na njegovo nakupno vedenje? In nenazadnje, katera orodja marketinškega komuniciranja so zanj učinkovita?

Title:SEGMENTATION AS A BASIS FOR MARKETING ACTIVITIES IN SUSTAINABLE TOURISM
Abstract:Being a member of modern society represents a challenge for the consumer and the producer, as well as each individual, as a citizen of the planet Earth. Due to the irresponsible behavior of man upon nature, the society is faced with unpleasant consequences, which are also reflected in the state in the economy. As a response to environmental issues the paradigm of social, economic and environmental system started to change. New policies have been directed to sustainable development, liberalization of markets as the only system represents survival in the long run. Even the tourist industry as one of the major and emerging world industries, began to operate in a system of environmental management and social responsibility. The result was a new form of tourism called sustainable tourism that considerate economic, social and environmental impact with a focus on reducing the impact of tourism on the environment, new environmental issues of tourist services and raising the awareness of consumers about the importance of sustainable philosophy. The sustainable-oriented tourists appeared, as someone who has internalized the importance of protecting the environment for future generations, was willing to change their own behavior patterns and began to behave as a socially and environmentally responsible consumer. These are the reasons for the introduction of a new model of sustainable marketing in the economy, which argues that the focus on economic growth and increase in production at any price sufficient to ensure prosperity, without taking into account other environmental and social risks intolerable and unsustainable. This in production and service processes brings environmental restrictions with respect to the number of population, their living habits, level of production, energy and raw material consumption and use of waste. We have set ourselves a task linked to sustainable development in the case of market segmentation of sustainable tourist oriented towards sustainable tourism offer, which has importance for marketers in the tourism business. Our question is: Is the environmental awareness already present among the inhabitants of the Republic of Slovenia? Has it already developed sustainably oriented segment of tourists? What are its characteristics? Which demographic criteria affect the purchasing behavior? And last but not least, which tools of marketing communication are effective? The survey results confirm the presence of sustainable-oriented tourists in Slovenian society that is environmentally conscious, yet still show certain deviations in their buying habits. Demographic criteria such as age, education, income and family life cycle impact on the attitudes of potential customers to sustainable content. We believe that such tourists are still in the developing phase, and that we will have to wait to be finalized.
