Abstract:	Diplomska naloga obravnava krajevno zgodovino kraja Velika Nedelja. Predstavljena je zgodovina tega kraja, njegove geografske, družbene in gospodarske značilnosti. V teoretičnem delu smo predstavili zgodovino kraja Velika Nedelja, posebej, kako je prišlo do poimenovanja kraja. Predstavili smo tudi ljudske grbe, natančneje grbe krajev, ki spadajo pod Krajevno skupnost Velika Nedelja. V tem delu smo natančneje tudi opisali javne in kulturne zgradbe, kot so cerkev Svete Trojice, grad Velika Nedelja, Osnovna šola Velika Nedelja, Gasilski dom ter Lovska družina Velika Nedelja. V empiričnem delu smo predstavili raziskavo, ki smo jo izvedli na Osnovni šoli Velika Nedelja. Izvedli smo anketo med učenci 3. in 4. razreda. Zanimalo nas je, koliko učenci vedo o zgodovini svojega kraja, kje kraj Velika Nedelja leži na zemljevidu, kako se znajo na zemljevidu orientirati. Prav tako nas je zanimalo, koliko učencev pozna javne in kulturne zgradbe Velike Nedelje, kaj vedo o njih in kje učenci vidijo razlike med šolstvom nekoč in danes oziroma ali jih sploh vidijo.

Title:	TEACHING LOCAL HISTORY ON THE EXAMPLE OF TOWN VELIKA NEDELJA
Abstract:	This diploma paper focuses on the local history of the settlement Velika Nedelja. The history of the settlement Velika Nedelja is presented. The paper describes both the geographical features as well as social and economic characteristics of Velika Nedelja. In the theoretical part we present the history of the settlement, especially how the name Velika Nedelja was chosen. We also present coats of arms, more specifically the municipal coats of arms belonging to the local community of Velika Nedelja. In this part we also describe in detail public and cultural buildings, such as the Holy Trinity Church, the Velika Nedelja castle, the Velika Nedelja Primary School, the Fire house and the Hunting Society Velika Nedelja. In the empirical part we present research that we conducted at the Primary School Velika Nedelja. We conducted a survey among the 3rd and 4th grade students. We were interested in learning how familiar students were with the local history of Velika Nedelja, where it is located on the map of Slovenia, and how good their orientation is. We was also curious to find out how many of them are familiar with public and cultural buildings of Velika Nedelja, what their knowledge of these buildings encompasses, and how they perceive the differences in the education system between the past and today, or if they notice them at all.
