Title:THE EFFECT OF SPRAYER DRIVING SPEED ON THE PESTICIDE DEPOSITION QUALITY IN APPLE ORCHARD
Abstract:The purpose of the study was to determine whether and how the working speed of spraying affects the depositon of PPP on the apple trees? Testing was carried out in two different apple orchards at two different working speeds (6 and 9 km/h), with two different sprayers and with use of two different nozzles (Albuz ATR and Albuz TVI). The first machine has a standard axial flow fan with central air stream, the second machine has two fans, which form a combined airstream. Increasing the working speed from 6 to 9 km/h results in increased uniformity of coverage and normalized deposits in different points of trees and also between the periphery of the crown and its inner part. In both cases (both machines) increasing of working speed results in better quality of spray deposit on the outside of the tree crown. In the case of the first machine this happens mainly due to the extension of the air flow path through the tree crown (less drift from the peripheral zones). In case of second machine, however, in a similar manner, and partly at the expense of reducing the spray deposit on the interior of the tree crown (increase in the return resistance of the air flow towards the crown periphery). Using the TVI nozzle compared with the application with the ATR nozzle in both tree training systems slightly improved the quality of coverage on the upper part of the tree crown and on the periphery of the tree crown, but fell slightly in the lower part of the treetop and on the underside of leaves.
