Abstract:Uvod: Področje izvajanja neinvazivnih metod medicinskega diagnosticiranja se vse bolj uveljavlja zaradi sodobne tehnologije medicinskih naprav. Z metodo dobimo podatke o odstotku maščevja, mišične mase, kostne mase in vode. Metodologija: Teoretična izhodišča smo pridobili z analizo domače in tuje literature.

Title:NONINVASIVE BIOIMPEDANCE MEASUREMENTS OF HUMAN BODY COMPOSITION
Abstract:Introduction: The area of noninvasive medical diagnostic methods is getting more and more established because of modern medical diagnostic technology. These devices enable easy measurement services. They are more compact, portable, and provide more functionality. Early and preventive measurements of different parts of the human body can have a positive effect on early discovery of illness and other problems. These measurement methods are constantly advancing and adapting to the needs of its users. One of most used is the bioimpedance measurement of body composition. A weak electrical current is passed through the human body in order to gain information about body composition. It gives us percentages of fat mass, muscle mass, bone mass and water mass with great reliability. Methodology: Starting point was acquired by studying domestic and foreign literature. We have used the Omron BF511 bioimpedance body composition monitor to measure our tested subjects. Firstly, we used repetitive measurements on the same subjects to determine the variability of given results. In the second part, we used body composition measurements to determine percentages of fat and muscle in tested subjects and analyzed their correlation. Lastly, we used a survey to check how much are they willing to pay and which area of the body interests them the most for the measurement. Results: The analysis showed the correlation between body mass index and body fat and muscle percentage. A higher body mass index meant a higher body fat and a lower muscle percentage. The survey showed that it is not possible to confirm a statistical relationship between the chosen body part and the payment amount.
