Abstract:	Potrebe po elektronskih in radijskih komunikacijah stalno naraščajo. Radijske zveze so nepogrešljiv del komunikacijskega omrežja v policiji, ki pokrivajo velika zemeljska območja. Analogni radijski sistemi so se pričeli umikati in pričeli postajati zgodovina, na njihovo mesto pa so stopili novi digitalni sistemi, imenovani TETRA, katerega uporablja slovenska policija. TETRA sistem poleg klasične funkcije prenosa govora, omogoča tudi prenos podatkov in druge številne storitve, saj deluje podobno kot sistem GSM. Sestavni del sistema TETRA so bazne postaje, katerih naloga je zagotoviti povezavo med mobilno postajo in omrežjem. TETRA je ponudila veliko kakovostnih rešitev za komunikacijske potrebe policije. Standardi kakovosti, uspeh na trgu, število proizvajalcev opreme in še kaj, so zagotovili, da se bo sistem TETRA še naprej razvijal, kar pomeni, da bo delo policije in ostalih uporabnikov sistema, ki skrbijo za nacionalno varnost, še bolj kakovostnejše in učinkovitejše.

Title:	RADIO - BASED COMMUNICATION IN THE POLICE
Abstract:	The need for electronically and radio communication are increasing all the time. Radio communication is for certain an indispensable part of the communication network that the police forces can use, one of the best advantage is the high radio signal coverage all over globe. The analogue radio system has slowly began to disappear in the mince of history, only to be replaced with a new digital radio system called TETRA, which is currently being used at the Slovenian police force. There are many advantages in the new digital radio system, because of the vast possibility to transmit more than just the previous classical transmitting of speech over the radio waves. Nowadays the new digital system TETRA transmits much more data and provides many other features, similarly working as the GSM system. The integral part of the new digital network system TETRA are the new base stations, whose task it is to maintain a constant connection between the mobile communication unit and the network system of the police force. The new digital system TETRA presented many new solutions in the desire to fulfil the communication needs at the police force. Quality standards, success on the market, a high number of equipment manufactures and much more is a strong indicator, that the TETRA system is a continuesly evolving and up to date digital radio system. That means, that the police force and others who work for the national security in Slovenia using TETRA can work even better and more effective.
