Abstract:Sodobni človek se vse bolj izogiba knjigi in pogovoru ter postaja služenj medijske industrije.

Title:SEXUALITY IN ADVERTISING AS MASS MANIPULATION TOOL
Abstract:The modern man is increasingly refraining from books and conversation and becoming a slave to the media industry. The media have one of the most influential roles, since they enter our everyday lives in ways we are often not aware of. Apart from the messages that are clearly visible and comprehensible, the media employ covert messages, used as subliminal manipulation, and below our threshold of perception. Those messages most often involve sexuality. It is clear that in today’s advertisements the appeals to sexuality have become the rule, rather than the exception. Such advertisements create a stereotypical image of women, which can lead to society perceiving women in the way they are portrayed in the advertisements, and also to women attributing themselves the roles given in the advertisements. The advertisements that objectify women violate the gender equality principle, discriminate, offend and demean.
Keywords:covert messages, subliminal manipulation, subliminal advertising, sexuality in advertisements, sexual innuendos
