Hrvaški osemletniki izražajo večjo naklonjenost do morskih motivov, medtem ko slovenske osemletnike bolj zanimajo abstraktni motivi.

Title:COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF PERCEPTION OF THE ART MOTIF BY EIGHT-YEAR-OLDS
Abstract:The graduation thesis is dedicated to the introduction of popularity of art motifs among the Slovenian and Croatian eight-year-old children. In establishing the attitude toward art motifs among the eight-year-old schoolchildren, we focused on researching the influence of gender and the environment on acceptance of the art motifs. In the theoretical part, the Slovenian and Croatian school systems are presented, within which we have especially emphasized the primary education. Further, we have wanted to establish the situation in art lessons in the first years of primary education at home, and in the neighbouring Croatia. Therefore, we have compared the Slovenian curriculum for art lessons to the Croatian curriculum for art culture. This has been followed by a review of art lessons´ planning in the first years of primary education. After that, we have introduced the art task and its components, namely art concept, art techniques, and art motif. We have researched art motifs in detail, where we have decided to highlight types of art motifs and teacher´s choice of art motifs suitable for primary education. The last part of the theoretical part is dedicated to the introduction of the previous researches, connected to art motifs, and discussion about art works, which have been of crucial importance for implementation of empirical part. The empirical part has been dedicated to the presentation of the results that testify about the popularity of art motifs with the Slovenian and Croatian eight-year-old children. We have established the existence of statistically typical difference in acceptance of art motifs in regard to gender. That means that teachers must pay their attention, in choosing the reproductions of art works, to considering popularity of different motifs among boys and girls. The research have led us to the finding that also a country is a factor which, in some cases, statistically typically influences the choice of art motifs. The Croatian eight-year-old children are more inclined to marine motifs, while the Slovenian ones are more interested in abstract motifs.
