Title:Using cost-time profile for the optimization of the investment project's costs
Abstract:Lean manufacturing ideas are present also in project management. Cost-time optimization problem is one of the most important aspects of investment project planning. Investors and planners must select appropriate resources, including operators, equipment, methods and technologies to perform activities of an investment project efficiently. There is a trade-off between cost and time to complete the activities; the less expensive the resources, the long it takes or some quality problems arise. On the basis of Lean Principles, Critical Path Method, Value Stream Analysis, Value Stream Costing and Cost-Time Profile, this master thesis analysed the process of construction the 50 kW micro-cogeneration unit for thermal and electrical energy and especially the relationship between cost and time, established different cost-time optimization measures for the construction project and evaluated their results (project costs, duration and cost-time investment) and effects in the conditions of the discussed investment. Findings show that projects, completed faster, bring significant advantages. The thesis provides scientific basis and support for project decision-making.
