Abstract:	Komuniciranje predstavlja pomemben del našega delovanja in vsakdanjega življenja. Različne oblike in vrste komuniciranja ter pravila, s katerimi je pogojeno učinkovito in uspešno komuniciranje, pred nas postavljajo številne izzive. Različne težave, ki se vsakodnevno pojavljajo pri komuniciranju, premagujemo bolj ali manj uspešno. Teže pa se znajdemo v okoliščinah, ki nam niso dobro znane. Pred nas postavljajo dodatne izzive in povečujejo možnosti za napake v komunikaciji. Takšne okoliščine so značilne za delovanje v mednarodnih misijah na kriznih območjih, kjer člani misije delujejo v tujem, morda sovražnem okolju, kjer se uporablja drugačen jezik, vladajo drugačna pravila in navade od tistih, ki smo jih vajeni doma. Člani misije na kriznem območju, kjer navadno začasno delujejo v okviru mednarodne organizacije, ki si prizadeva za stabilizacijo in normalizacijo stanja na kriznem območju, prihajajo iz različnih okolij, od koder prinašajo različno znanje, različne izkušnje in navade. Zagotovitev učinkovitega komuniciranja ter uspešnega delovanja in življenja v misiji zato vsekakor ni lahka naloga. Ključno vlogo pri tem naj bi igrala pravilna izbira in priprava osebja. Člani mednarodnih misij na kriznih območjih so podali svoja mnenja in stališča o komunikacijskih izzivih v misiji, iz katerih izhaja, da komunikacijskih izzivov, ki jih prinaša misija, ne dojemajo toliko kot ovire, ampak bolj kot sestavni del normalnega delovanja v misijah, ki zahteva predanost in temeljito pripravo. Še vedno pa vidijo možnosti za napredek in izboljšave, kjer je v ospredju premoščanje jezikovnih težav in organizacijsko komuniciranje.

Title:	Challenges of communication in international missions
Abstract:	Communication represents important part of our work and everyday life. Various forms and types of communication and rules that define an effective and successful communication raise a number of challenges. We overcome different issues that are constantly occurring in communication more or less successfully. It is harder still for us to find our way in circumstances that are not so familiar to us. They make us face additional challenges and increase the possibility for making mistakes in communication. Such circumstances are typical for the functioning of the international missions in crisis areas, where members of the mission work in foreign, possibly hostile environments with foreign language, different rules and habits compared to those we are accustomed to at home. Members of the mission in crisis areas, which are usually working there temporarily within the framework of international organizations aiming to stabilize and normalize the situation in crisis areas, come from different backgrounds, bringing different knowledge, skills and habits. Therefore, ensuring effective communication and efficient functioning in the mission, is certainly not an easy task. The key role in this should be held by good selection and preparation of personnel. Members of the international missions in crisis areas have expressed their opinions and views on the communication challenges in the mission. They do not perceive communication challenges that occur in the mission as much as obstacles, but rather as an integral part of the normal functioning in the mission, that requires dedication and thorough preparation. Still, they see opportunities for progress and improvement, highlighting bridging the language difficulties and improving organizational communication.
