Abstract:V pogojih gospodarske globalizacije pridobiva klasična diplomacija, v povezavi z gospodarsko, vse bolj na pomenu.

Title:ECONOMIC DIPLOMACY OF THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA
Abstract:Classic diplomacy combined with economic diplomacy, is gradually becoming an important aspect in the environment governed by economic globalization. Economic diplomacy is an integral part of development and promotion of economy and international relations. It includes activities such as increasing the amount of exported goods and services, attracting foreign investments, membership in international institutions and presentation of opportunities and individual enterprises, along with protection of their economic interest. While developed European and world countries have established systems of economic diplomacy, that is not the case in the Republic of Croatia. Since it gained independence, Croatian hasn't defined clear, long-term strategies in terms of economic diplomacy development. Small open economies, such as Croatia, require increased involvement in the world market and a search for specialized areas upon which the national economy can base its competitive advantages. Economic diplomacy is particularly important for Croatia because of the foreign trade balance deficit and a sharp decline of foreign investments. Croatia needs a modern combination of political and economic diplomacy which will provide easier entry into the domestic market, but also give an opportunity its own companies to become competitive on the international market. European Union membership opened up new markets in Croatia, so an increase in export would stimulate an increase in production and economic recovery of the country. Stimulating export is one of the main goals of Croatian economic diplomacy, and the activities currently being carried out, such as assistance and providing information to the exporters, should enable easier conduction of business on the international level.
