Title:STRESS OF PERMANENT MEMBERS OF THE SLOVENIAN ARMED FORCES IN INTERNATIONAL PEACEKEEPING OPERATIONS
Abstract:The subject of our study was mostly the stress in workplace and the stress of permanent members of the Slovenian Armed Forces in Internation Peacekeeping Operations in research part. The study is including breafly introduced concepts of stress, International Peace Operations and the Slovenian Armed Forces. The survey was conducted in two barracks, the barrack Vincent Repnik in Slovenska Bistrica and in the barrack of General Maister in Maribor. The survey was completed by 105 permanent members of Slovenian Armed Forces. Survey analysis results showed us most common and biggest stressors for the members of International Peacekeeping Operation. We tested four hypothesis which included some of the stereotypical idea of the media and the Slovenian civil public about the Slovenian Armed Forces on the International Peace Operations. It turned out that stereotypes are to a certain extent still true. This was reflected in two hypothesis. One of them refers to sexism in Slovenian Armed Forces. This is still, according to the opinion of too many people, men institution. Also the last stereotype, which speaks of "superiors who work under less stress than their subordinate", has been confirmed. The other two hypothesis were rejected. Fear for your life - which was once always present in Armed Forces tasks abroad, in the nowadays army is no longer common. Hypothesis who says that the family of procreation is more important than the nuclear family the stereotype of older people (that they are useless, "back in time", etc.), is not true in the Slovenian army. To them is the primary family (mother, father) very much important.
