Vsi podatki so bili ročno obdelani. Ugotovitve kažejo, da vsi dijaki uporabljajo sleng, predvsem zaradi lažjega izražanja. Sleng uporabljajo v prostem času, doma in v šoli, predvsem s prijatelji in sošolci, na najrazličnejših področjih, kot so glasba, filmi, zabava ... Skoraj vsi dijaki uporabljajo angleške besede v slengu (okej, sori, kul), večina jih prav tako uporablja tudi daljše angleške fraze, npr. »Who's the man?«.

Title:THE ENGLISH ELEMENT IN THE SLENG OF SLOVENE TEENAGERS
Abstract:The main aims of this diploma paper, entitled The English Element in the Slang of Slovene Teenagers, are to determine how strong is the English influence on the slang of Slovene teenagers, how many Slovene teenagers use slang and how frequently, with whom and in which areas they use it. In addition, I was interested in finding out whether the use of slang ever bothered them, and if they think older generations understood slang. I wanted to find out which English words are used more often and if they use slang words from any other foreign languages as well. Their opinions about the increase of English words in slang are also very important for the research. One of the main aims of my diploma paper is to comprehend causes and consequences of English influence on the slang of Slovene teenagers. I interviewed 100 first to third year students from First High School in Celje. All the data was manually processed. I found out that all the interviewed students use slang, mostly because they find it easier to express themselves in it. They often use slang in their free time, at home and at school. They communicate in slang mostly with friends and school mates. Students use slang in many areas of interest, such as music, movies, entertainment, etc. Almost all students use English words when speaking slang (okej, sori, kul); most of them also use longer English phrases, e.g. “Who’s the man?”. They picked up these words mostly on TV and the internet. They prefer English over Slovene words when using slang because English words sound much better to them. Its popularity and also globalisation – English being an international language – are the reasons why there will be more and more English words and phrases in slang. Students also use expressions from other foreign languages, such as German (cuker, cajt, marš), French (mersi, žoli, se la vi) and Serbian/Croatian (šupak, majke mi, svašta). Many students admit that the use of slang sometimes bothers them. In their opinion, older generations do not understand slang.
