Abstract:Diplomsko delo prikazuje različne načine vodenja procesa kristalizacije natrijevega acetata trihidrata v mešalnem kristalizatorju v podjetju Tanin Sevnica, d. d..

Title:CRYSTALLIZATION OF SODIUM ACETATE TRIHYDRATE
Abstract:The thesis shows different ways of the crystallization process control of sodium acetate trihydrate in the agitator vessel at Tanin Sevnica company. Different ways of process control helped us achieve a specific crystallization time in one agitator within 48 hours and we succeded in processing (crystallization) the complete input quantity. Besides the reduction of the crystallization time also the output was monitored. The whole process was controlled by the computer control system (SCADA, WIN CC Siemens). The results obtained showed, that we succeded in achieveng the final goal, i.e. time reduction of the crystallization on to 48 hours, however sustaining certain losses upon the final output. That fact was confirmed by entire successive measurements. Upon each agitator 9.6 % of the product is lost, which means 425 kg less output upon each agitator compared to the input before the crystallization time-shortening. This happens due to shortening of individual stages of crystallization process and thereupon generation and growth of the crystals. Conclusion: the results of measurements show that the time required for crystallization in an agitator can be shortened indeed, but we have to take into account a certain loss in the output quantity, for each stage of a process requires a certain time, which goes in the time-shortening process lost.
