Abstract:Naslov Kultne knjige v mladinski književnosti razkriva, s čim smo se ukvarjali v našem diplomskem delu. V empiričnem delu diplomskega dela so predstavljeni izsledki ankete, v katero so bili vključeni devetošolke in devetošolci iz šestih osnovnih šol z območja Mestne občine Maribor.

Title:CULT BOOKS IN CHILDREN AND YOUTH LITERATURE
Abstract:The title Cult books in children and youth literature reveals the topic of our diploma thesis. First, we researched the meaning of the term cult book and found out that it represents a book, known for its great impact on a reader, causing certain changes on him, which can be reflected on different ways. The reader of a cult book can adore the protagonist of the book, accepts his belief or begins to imitate his behaviour, his style of dressing or his looks. To some of the readers, such book provides answers to questions about certain aspects of life, to others it is an inspiration and can encourage them to do some activities or it discourages them from others. In theoretical part of the diploma thesis five examples of books that can be experienced as cult books are represented and we chose them with a help of the system COBISS.SI: Matilda by Roald Dahl, Maček Muri by Kajetan Kovič, Pekarna Mišmaš by Svetlana Makarovič, Drejček in trije Marsovčki by Vid Pečjak and Muca Copatarica by Ela Peroci. As well, the books that have been indicated as cult books in more than one ninth grader in the empirical part are represented. Namely, these works are Mi, otroci s postaje Zoo by Christiane Felscherinow, Krive so zvezde by John Green and Princeska z napako by Janja Vidmar. In the empirical part of the diploma thesis the results of the survey, in which ninth graders of six primary schools in the area of the municipality of Maribor were included, are represented. The survey has shown that most of the interviewed pupils do not know the meaning of the term cult and the phrase cult book. As well, their answers to other questions, with which we found out about their reading interests and their reading habits, are provided. Our main interest was whether a book that has been read had a great impact on them and 33.6 % of all of the interviewed pupils affirmed the question. Majority of them named the titles of books that had caused great impact on them and by that they revealed which works they had experienced as cult ones. Among the titles of cult books, the titles of the three above mentioned books have appeared and they had an impact on more than one pupil.
