Abstract:Namen diplomskega dela je preučiti vpliv različnih koncentracij NaCl in temperature na korozijsko obstojnost aluminijeve zlitine 6082. Pri tem smo uporabili 1-odstotno in 5-odstotno raztopino NaCl pri 25 in 50 °C.

Title:THE ELECTROCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF AN ALUMINUM ALLOY 6082 IN CHLORIDE MEDIUM
Abstract:The purpose of this thesis is to research the effects of different concentrations of chloride ions and different temperatures on the corrosion durability of the aluminium alloy 6082. To test this, samples were immersed in 1 % and 5 % solutions of NaCl at 25 and 50 °C. The rate of corrosion was determined using immersion test, but as it proved unreliable, an electrochemical analysis was used with the following methods: chronopotentiometry, polarisation resistance measurements and cyclic polarisation measurements. The results indicated that the aluminium corroded the fastest in the 5 % NaCl solution at 25°C. The quantity of the alloy samples, exposed to temperatures of 50°C, increased after they were submerged as corrosive by-products arose. The corrosion potential was determined via chronopotentiometry, a method where the difference in potential is measured with time. The corrosion potential reached its low-point with the 5 % NaCl solution at 50°C. The results of the polarisation resistance measurements showed that the aluminium alloy 6082 is least affected by steady corrosion when it is exposed to a 1 % solution of NaCl under 25 °C. The shape of the obtained cyclic loop indicated that the aluminium was actively dissolving in the chloride medium.
