Abstract:	Izhodišča in namen: Svetovno prebivalstvo se vse hitreje stara, proces staranja pa v telesu povzroča spremembe, ki vplivajo na delovanje in ravnanje posameznika v družbi. Zaradi specifičnih potreb so starostniki uvrščeni v ranljivo skupino prebivalstva, ki potrebuje dodatno pomoč in podporo. Le-ta jim je nudena s strani svojcev in njihovih bližnjih, ko pa to ni mogoče, se največkrat obrnejo na ustrezne institucije. To starostnikom predstavlja stres, saj so naenkrat iztrgani iz domačega okolja, izgubijo občutek avtonomnosti, bivanje v institucionalnem varstvu predstavlja tudi finančno breme. Alternativna možnost so dnevni centri za starostnike. V Občini Postojna so pod okriljem Doma upokojencev Postojna v dnevnem varstvu na voljo le tri prosta mesta. Namen diplomskega dela je bil raziskati, ali obstaja potreba po ustanovitvi samostojnega dnevnega centra za starostnike v Občini Postojna. Raziskovalne metode: V teoretičnem delu je bila uporabljena deskriptivna metoda dela. V empiričnem delu pa kvantitativna metodologija, s tehniko anketiranja z anketnim vprašalnikom. Pripravili smo dva vprašalnika. Prvi je bil namenjen anketiranju starostnikov, ki ga je izpolnilo 31 oseb, drugi pa anketiranju svojcev stanovalcev doma upokojencev, ki ga je izpolnilo 42 oseb. Raziskavo in anketiranje smo izvedli meseca maja 2016. Uporabljali smo programa Microsoft Excel in Microsoft Word. Dobljene rezultate oz. izide raziskave smo podali v obliki grafov in jih interpretirali. Rezultati: Ugotovili smo, da 100% anketiranih starostnikov in 88% anketiranih svojcev vidi potrebo po ustanovitvi samostojnega dnevnega centra za starostnike, kar jasno nakazuje, da bodo na tem področju potrebne korenite spremembe. Diskusija in zaključek: Želja vsakega posameznika je čim večja kvaliteta življenja, kar velja tudi za starostnike. Kakovostno starost je moč doseči s prilagajanji in konstruktivnim medgeneracijskim sodelovanjem. Dnevni centri za starostnike predstavljajo obliko pomoči, ki ohranja dostojanstvo starostnikov in jim omogoča vsakodnevno vračanje v njihove domove, kar jim daje občutek povezanosti z družino in domačim okoljem.

Title:	The needs for an adult day care center
Abstract:	Introduction: The world population is aging faster and the aging process causes changes in the body which affect the activity and behaviour of the individual in society. The elderly are placed in a vulnerable group of population who needs additional help and support. The family and their close relatives provide the help and support that is needed, but when this is not possible, they usually turn to the relevant institutions. This is stressful for the elderly, because they are suddenly torn away from their domestic environment and they lose their sense of autonomy. Furthermore, the institutional care is also a financial burden. An alternative option are day centres for the elderly. In the Municipality of Postojna there are only three available places in the day care unit which is organized under the auspices of the Postojna Retirement Home. The purpose of the study was to investigate whether there is a need for establishing an independent day centre for the elderly in the Municipality of Postojna. Research Methods: In the theoretical part of the paper a descriptive methodology was used. In the empirical part we worked according to quantitative methodology, we used the technique of an interview with a questionnaire. We have prepared two questionnaires. The first was devoted to interviewing older people, and was completed by 31 people, while the other interviewed the relatives of the residents of the Retirement Home, and was completed by 42 persons. The research and surveys were carried out in May 2016. We used Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. The results of the research were presented in the form of graphs and properly interpreted. Results: We found that 100 % of the surveyed elderly and 88 % of the surveyed family members see the need for establishing an independent day centre for the elderly, which clearly indicates that this area needs a radical change. Discussion and Conclusion: The desire of each individual is to optimize the quality of life. The quality aging can be achieved by adapting and constructive inter-generational cooperation. The day care centres for the elderly represent a form of aid which preserves the dignity of older people and allows them to return daily to their homes, giving them a sense of connection with their families and home environment.
