Abstract:Številčnost šolskih vrtov na slovenskih šolah niha zadnjih 200 let.

Title:T influence of school gardens and complementary participative and interactive methods of work on teachers and students of primary and secondary schools
Abstract:The number of school gardens in Slovenian schools fluctuates the last 200 years. When Slovenia became independent, school gardens were literally not present. In the last two decades they slowly reappear on initiatives of the European Union, national agencies, that enforce and execute European goal and aims as well as individuals, that share the belief that school gardens are neccessary. In the diploma paper I researched the influence of the presence of school gardens on students, teachers and pedagogues, who use, engage in work in them. Moreover I included a part of interwevees, who don't have access to a school garden. They gave their oppinion about how school garden work would influence them, teachers as well as the local society of their school. The results showed that most of the students don't actually realise the influence of work in school gardens, while those who actually do work in them developed a positive attitude towards the garden, peers as well as teachers. The pedagogues who are active in the school garden, believe that the presence of a school garden as well as activities that are carried out in the school garden positively influence all involved students, teachers, as well as their relationship with the environment and local society. Since the numbers of school gardens are increasing, as well as development of educational modules for classes carried out in the gardens, such infrastructures present an alternative to traditional classes carried out in the classrooms, since they offer better opportunities for practical work of students, gathering their own experiences as well as experimentation.
