Abstract:V diplomski nalogi so v teoretičnem delu najprej opisani poslovni oz. delovni procesi v organizaciji na splošno in načini za njihovo prenovo.

Title:CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF REFERRALS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PAEDIATRIC AND PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY, UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTRE LJUBLJANA
Abstract:In the thesis there are in theoretical part firstly described business and work processes in the organization in general and methods for their renovation. After, we have briefly described processes which are carried out at the Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry and we described the requirements for referrals from primary to secondary and tertiary care. Since we decided to redesign and improve selected processes using the principles of lean thinking and SMED method, we describe them more specifically and identified successful introduction of lean thinking in dentistry. Analysis of current situation is divided into two parts. In the first part, we analysed the number of referrals received over the years that we have chosen to deal with and all related information that we have obtained from the analysis. We were mainly interested in waiting periods according to the priority type, what are the most common reasons for referrals, how many of the referrals were received incorrectly/incompletely filled and from which parts and regions we received the most referrals. In the second part, we described selected working processes in more detail and graphically presented and highlighted organizational and time delays, which occur due to the current sequence of processes. In the last part, we presented renewed and combined work processes according to the principles of lean thinking, which were logically rearranged. We eliminated non-value activities, thereby we shortened total execution time of processes and minimize the possibility of errors and reduced human effort. Regarding the increase of referrals, we have suggested solutions for which we are expecting to decrease the number of referrals received on Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry according to the upward trend. At the same time, we have also presented suggestions for reducing the number of referrals, which were incorrectly/incompletely filled and received on Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry.
